G&DCC works to improve the local area and welcomes the ideas and active input of the local community to this. People, living locally, appreciate its beauty and welcome visitors to the area, to work or play. We know that sometimes this can cause some tension and we work to find the best solution to these.

The whole community are very grateful for the voluntary time and effort of local people to support our environment, community facilities and to improve our local area.

We will assist you with any queries you have on community issues, and signpost you to other organisations when that is more helpful. You are welcome to contact G&DCC by phone, email, or Facebook and you may want to meet with individual councillors about an issue.

We manage Pat’s Playpark, with the enormous day to day input coming from volunteers. We bought, renovated and maintain our 4 phone kiosks, partly as historic icons but all will be put to good community use. At Ffynnon Gynydd and Cwmbach we have installed defibrillators, in Glasbury kerb-side flower planters, benches and notice boards.

We partner local organisations that work to benefit the local community, through grants and donating equipment. Examples are providing the 1st Glasbury & Tregoyd Scout Group with litter pick equipment, grants to Glasbury and Llyswen Village Halls and to LOVE toilets in Glasbury, to Llyswen and Boughrood Show, and other local voluntary agencies and charities.

1st Glasbury and Tregoyd Beavers planted  bulbs and continue to maintain planters as do the Table Tennis group. Thanks to all of them.

Current issues  We work hard to keep the local community informed about local issues, about our own actions and to consult with people who live in the area. Please take a look at the G&DCC Facebook page for discussion about current issues - Keep up to date with Facebook News

Working with partners We represent the views of local people to statutory bodies - Powys County Council, Dyfed-Powys Police, Powys Teaching Health Board , Welsh Government, Natural Resources Wales  and to  professional and interest bodies Powys Association of Voluntary Organisations, Bronllys Wellbeing Park, Radnorshire Wildlife Trust, South Wales Outdoor Activity Providers, Wye and Usk Foundation.

Meetings. G&DCC meetings deal with local issues and the progress made with these. We discuss our own services and activities, suggestions & concerns raised by local residents, views about local policing, health and County Council services. Meetings are currently held on the 2nd Wednesday of alternative months. Click Here for view minutes and papers. These have usually been held in Glasbury Village Hall.

We welcome residents to attend and raise issues, but they cannot take part in the discussion or decision making. If you want to attend and raise an issue, please advise our clerk in advance at clerk@gdcc.wales. As agendas are full, and as they are agreed a week in advance so Councillors can prepare, it may not be possible to fit in an extra item at a meeting.

Where our money comes from G&DCC is funded through the taxpayer and other public funds. We set an annual budget and receive a precept payment, via Powys County Council, from the council tax paid by local residents.. Click Here for Accounts
