Community councils are the modern equivalent of Parish Councils which used to exist in Wales and still do in England. They are statutory bodies with powers granted by the National Assembly, as an elected tier of local government.
Glasbury & District Community Council's role is to represent the interests of the community and influence other bodies to do so. For example, the council is consulted by the Powys County Council for all planning applications in our community. We represent the views of local people to statutory bodies - Powys County Council, Dyfed-Powys Police, Powys Teaching Health Board, Welsh Government, Natural Resources Wales - and to professional and interest bodies Powys Association of Voluntary Organisations, Bronllys Wellbeing Park, Radnorshire Wildlife Trust, South Wales Outdoor Activity Providers, Wye and Usk Foundation.
